Sant'Eusanio is situated in the valley of the Sangro river, to the right of the Gogna stream, with the Maiella in the background. It was the birthplace of Cesare De Titta, among of the main literary figures of Abruzzo.

In the vicinity there was a settlement during the Roman era, but the name was mentioned for the first time in the Catalogus Baronum with the name Sanctum Eusanium. It was under the jurisdiction of the abbey of San Giovanni in Venere and later of the Congregation of the Philippine Fathers of Rome, to pass under the state in 1793.
