Located in a beautiful panoramic position, offers stunning views of the sea and surrounding mountains. The old town is very interesting, with ancient buildings and decorative motifs from different eras. In 1864, with the construction of the Adriatic railway, the village of Marina di S. Vito developed along the coast and is now a lively tourist resort.

According to historians, already in the Roman imperial period there was on the site an ancient port, still in operation in the 10th century AD. In the same century the Church of St. Vito Martire was mentioned, while in the 12th century Sanctum Vitum is recorded in the jurisdiction of San Giovanni in Venere. Destroyed at the end of the 14th century by the Earl of Manoppello, it passed later to the monks of the city of Lanciano.
