History
Taranta originated in the Middle Ages, and was mentioned for the first time in the 12th century. In the 17th century it was under the Caldora, followed by the Malvezzi and the d'Aquino. The place suffered heavy damage during the Second World War.

Events & Festivities
- 3 February: Feast of St. Blaise, with the preparation of the traditional "panicelle", loaves of bread representing the fingers of the saint, which are eaten to obtain protecttion against throat diseases.
