The Regional Association for Musical Education (A.R.P.E.M.), is a non- profit association founded by musicians who have been working in Abruzzo for the last ten years; the association organizes, mainly in summer, numerous activities, favouring the territory of Fontecchio (AQ), a medieval town in the Sirente-Velino Regional Park, in the Abruzzo region.
Among its numerous activities, ARPEM has organized now for some years the "Musicamica" concert series which take place in the cloister of the Convent of S.Francesco (XV century), Fontecchio. ARPEM is interested in classical music tradition, in musical teaching refreshment courses, in philological research, in the experimentation of new sonorous languages, in acustic landscapes requiring multidisciplinary approaches, and in the re-evaluation of popular tradition and culture. Now ARPEM has launched the project "Abruzzo and Molise in the World" to follow the footsteps of Abruzzese and Molisani emigrants and bring them a flavor of the ancient homeland. This march 1999 in various places in California, USA, in association with "Abruzzo and Molise in the World" multimedia exhibition, works by the Abruzzese artists will also be on show and to the best work in each category the Hollywood International Art Prize will be awarded
