On a hill overlooking the whole Fucino basin, Aielli can still show such fine medieval sights as the cylindrical, XIV-century tower, once belonging to a larger fortified structure built by Ruggero, Count of Celano, and the remarkable Chiesa di S. Rocco. At Aielli Stazione, moreover, there is the beautiful Chiesa di S. Adolfo, built in the 1930's with the contribute of sculptor Arturo Dazzi.

Called castrum Agelli in the Middle Ages, Aielli was surrounded by walls in the 14th century, then was annexed to the County of Celano. In 1915 the famed earthquake destroyed a large part of the small town.
