In the Middle Ages the settlement was long in the possession of the abbey of San Clemente a Casauria, and later belonged to the Caracciolo and Branconi, to Filippo Nodari and finally to the Durini family, the last feudal lords. On 1806 Joseph Bonaparte suppressed the feudal system in the Kingdom of Naples.
