History
Built in 980 by Abbot Adam I of San Clemente, the village was mentioned for the first time in 987. It belonged until 1569 to the Cantelmo, it was later sold to the D'Afflitto, and still later became a fief of the Mattucci and De Petris.
What to see
- the abbey of San Clemente a Casauria, founded in 871, which, together with a wing of the monastery, is what remains of the most important abbey in Abruzzo; among the most interesting features are the cyborium, the ambon, the Easter candle, the alabaster Urn with the remains of St. Clemens.
- the beautiful Grotto of Sant'Angelo, a place of pilgrimage along the wooded slopes of Monte Morrone;
