I do not know much about my family history and would like to know more if anyone can help. What I do know is my father's father is Joseph Abruzzo who was raised in Brooklyn, ny. Having come across this wonderful site for the first time, I was surprised to learn that my parents' hometown of Secinaro, L'Aquila was without an entry in the guestbook. Nestled in the plush mountains of Sirente, neighbour to other guest-book notables such as Petorano sul Gizio and Castelvecchio, Secinaro is knowns as much for its umbrella artisans as it is for its breathtaking view from la piazza. As far as I know I paisani in North America have clustered mostly in Hamilton Ontario, Detroit Michigan and Steubenville Ohio. Anywhere else?

Sono stato nato in Fara Filiorum Petri, provincia di Chieti in maggio del 1956. Da allora fino a giugno del 1958 ho vissuto nella casa dei miei nonni paterni, Via Madonna dell Ponte, 83, Fara Filiorum Petri. Il nome di mio padre è Romano Bucciarelli ed i suoi genitori sono Marietta Bucciarelli e Paolo DiGiuseppe, ambo è decesso. Mia madre, la cui nome davanti matrimonio era Leda Ottaviano, è da Fresagrandinaria, provincia di Chieti. I suoi genitori sono Natalina Ottaviano e Cosimo Racano, anche deceduto. In 1956 mio padre ha emigrato ai Stati Uniti e mia madre e ho emigrato in giugno del 1958.

Negli Stati Uniti la mia famiglia ha vissuto nella città di Binghamton, New York dove mio padre ha molte zie, zii e cugini. Non conosco la maggior parte di miei parenti in Abruzzo. Quelli che ho saputo non ho visto da quando ero due anni e non li ricordo. Mi piacerebbe stabilire contatto coi miei parenti, o con qualcuno che ha conosciuto i miei nonni, genitori o io come un bambino. Cognomi noti dei miei parenti includono: Bucciarelli, DiGiuseppe, Ottaviano, Racano, Longhi, e Cerratani.

Il mio altro interesse è l'eredità culinaria di Abruzzo. Mia moglie ed io siamo ambi ammiratori della cucina di Abruzzo e spesso cuciniamo pasti tradizionali Abruzzese da ricette che sono state date ci da mia madre e dalla zia di mia padre. C'interessiamo a corrispondere con qualcuno in Abruzzo, o altrove, che azioni il nostro interesse in cibo e cottura. Ci piacerebbe ricevere ricette tipico di Abruzzo, ed anche ricette da altro regioni di Italia, ambo tradizionale e contemporaneo.

Finalmente, ho sentito di una scuola della cottura famosa ha localizzato in Abruzzo che si è laureato molti chef eccellenti, molti di che cucina in ristoranti nella città di New York. Mi interesso a contattare questa scuola ma non posso trovare informazioni di lui. I am searching for any records on my G.Grandfather ROCCO DI TULLIO born in Abruzzi 1875 and arrived in U.S.1897 married to BEATRICE DATRE. Beatrice died birthing 3rd child Maria in N.Y.City 1906. His fruit peddling partner CORINTO CIANCI arranged marriage for Rocco and his oldest daughter Elena. So that also connects me to the family of CORINTO CIANCI b.10 July 1869 and wife OLYMPIA PADIVANI b.14 June 1870 in Teresa, Torino, Italy. They were married 1888 in Arielli,Chieti. Daughters all born in Arielli- Elena b.18 June 1891(married Rocco in 1908), Mary b.26 Nov.1892, Anna b.25 Nov. 1900.then moved to the U.S. and lived in the Bronx N.Y.City. Corinto had a sister Palmina Cianci that married DOMINIC LABARBA also from Abruzzi. Their son was 1924 Olympic Gold Medalist & World Title "fly-weight Champ" boxing legend from N.Y.City FIDEL LABARBA.
I now need help from Abruzzi on My Di Tullio, Cianci,& Labarba Family.
