My name is Pasquale Carestia and I found this web site very interesting. My parents came from a small town called San Vittorino, about 3 miles from Caramanico T. My parents came to settled in the U.S.A. in the 70’s. Since then I was always involved about my parents heritage and how lived compared to today. I visited Italy 3 times and I think that Italy is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. I enjoy searching the internet about Caramanico, I wish I could find something about San Vittorino. I lot of the people from San Vittorino have came and settled in Joliet IL. We also built a club along with other people, called the American Italian Cultural Society www.italianclubaics.com. At this we continue our Italian traditions.

My grandfather and grandmother were from Torella. His name was Giovanni and hers was Angela. They had a son in Italy named Nicholas or Nicola berfore they came to America. Then they had another son, my father, Anthony Sr., a daughter Rose and another son, Danny. My grandfather was killed by a train when my father was 13. My grandmother remarried to Nunzio Carovillano. My cousin's daughter is now researching the family name, so any help I can get would be appreciated. Eventually I would like to take a trip to Torella. Greetings from Ottawa! I am the grandaughter of Giuseppe Costantini and Teresina Sabetti. My grandfather emigrated to Ottawa in and around 1914-15 and married my grandmother in March of 1917 in St. Anthony's Church, Ottawa. They proceeded to raise 7 children , of which there is only one daughter still alive. My grandfather's younger brother was Ilario Costantini and he married my grandmother's younger sister Giovanna Sabetti. They had a family of 5 children. There is , needless to say, a large extended and very close Costantini family. I would be interested if anyone had any information on any Costantini. My grandfather apparently came from Campobasso and or Mutignano in the province of Teramo. I have also posted a greeting on the message board of this website and do look forward to hearing from anyone with the same name and or any information.
I think that my great-grandfather in Campobasso was named Francesco Costantini and his wife was a Caterina De Gabrielis. Hope this helps anyone. Ciao for now!

My sister's Mother was Selma Pietrantonio, who married Giusseppe (Pep) Tagliente in Iron Mountain. Selma passed on when my sister was a young child.Also from Iron Mountain, the family Pietrantonio who moved to Eveleth , Minnesota.My cousin's Mother, Mary Pietrantonio, is from this family. She married my uncle, Ben Deluca, my Mother's brother.( I will contact her for more information.)The Eveleth branch, fathered by Dominick Pietrantonio: Elizabeth, Violet, Rose, Mary(my cousin's Mother),Joe and another son.They have all passed on. Dominick's sister, Mary Pietrantonio, married Tony Rainaldi, also in Eveleth.Mary and Tony have passed on. There are two children.
The Corsi and Valenti family are also connected, through marriage. Selma was connected to the Valenti family. My father's sister, Anina Tagliente, married a Corsi. They lived in Camden, N.J.That was the last time I saw her,in about 1950. There is one Corsi in Iron Mountain, left ,who is in her 80's. If she remembers anything, I will pass this info. on to you. I will wait to see if you get this and if it is helpful.My cousin, Margaret should have info on the Pietrantonio family, as well.
Don't give up your search. Recently, a gentleman saw my name, I kept my maiden name, in the college, (where I teach,) course book. Calling the college, we were put in touch. I am trying to trace any family members with the same last name of SFAMURRI - I know there is a branch with 3 brothers whose parents emigrated at the turn of century and subsequently died leaving 12 children orphaned only the 3 oldest boys kept their original surname - in the US.

I also know that there is a branch in Pescara, ITALY (my grandfather - Severio) plus his brother's family which is located further north up the coast - this brother was raised by another family since the 2 boys were orphaned at the tender ages of 10 and 11 years of age.(mother died, father disappeared).

I know there must be someone out there who knows this family - there's really not many of us out there. Any clues I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Looking for the family surname of Planamenta/Planamento/Planamenti. Have found many spellings at the Ellis Island site. And, have found many people who went to visit my grandfather at 26 Aqueduct St in Ossining NY. My grandfather, Enrico Planamenta, as well as his brother, Dominic, emigrated to the USA in the early 1920s or there about. They were from Castiglione in the Province of L'Aquila. Dominic later moved to South America without a trace. I cannot find anything on our family, although we did have friends who visited Abruzzo many years ago tell us that our surname, while considered quite rare in the states, was like Smith or Jones in Italy! I would love hearing from anyone with any information that would help. My father would be simply elated! Thanks so much.

Need information about Angelina Trozzi who died in Italty before 1920 and was married to Frank Amaranto in Krebs, Oklahoma, USA in December 1900.
Frank came to the United States approximately three to four times. Have found him on Ellis Island Records, but no record of Angelina Trozzi coming over.

I would like any information at all on the Evangelista family.
My father was Caesar Palmiro Evangelista (a.k.a. Caesar Palmiro Batistella), he was born in Castelvecchio, March 23,1902. He came to the U.S. in 1910 with his mother, Carmella Evangelista(her maiden name). She had married a Batistella(not sure of correct spelling),who came to the U.S.with their son and was supposed to send for her and their daughter Grace. Bastistella never did send for them. Carmela later lived with a tailor in Castelveccho. He fathered my dad.
The tailor was going to move to Pescara and would take his son, Caesar,and Carmela but not Grace. Carmela said,take all or none. The tailor left by himself.
Alesondro(sp.?) Vespa sent for Carmela to take care of his three children when her sister died in child birth.That is why Carmela and Caesar came to Iron Mountain, Michigan in 1910.
When Caesar grew up, he anglicized Evangelista to Evance.
P.S.:I don't remember Grace's first name.It may be Maria.She married Tony Gazza, also from Castelvecchio, before coming to the U.S.

This is a WONDERFUL website! The Abruzzese people are given short shrift in Italo-American culture, but our reputation as "forte e gentile" stands us in good stead in the USA. My father grew up in Villa Santa Maria in Chieti, on the Fiume Sangro. I saw it for the first time a few years ago, and it is so much more beautiful than he described.

In the year 1890 in Sicily my nona had a Uncle who was very ill in the hospital and there were Bars of gold left for my Grandma "MariaElena" he said in Quotes"I want MariaElena to have the Bars of gold that I have for her but please hurry and sign to document from the Italien Government that was sent to Buenos Aires in the 1920s. He lived in a Castle with many servants and many many Bars of gold in his Chest. Which is worth now trillions. I would like to know what happened to the Document because I will personally fly or take a boat to Italy and find the truth about what the Italien Government did with the Castle and the

I am interested in finding Natale family members.My Pop-pop's name was Francesco Natale.His parents were Flaviano Natale & Pasquarosa
(Sacchini)Natale.I know that my greatgrandmother left Italy with my Pop-pop & his 2 sisters ,Anna & Christina in 1910.Flaviano had come to the United States before them .My pop-pop & his family came to Ellis Island so I have some facts about them.Pasquarosa was 33yrs.old and the ship manifest says that their place of residence was Mosciano,Italy and I am assuming that the manifest was correct.My family & I are interested in taking our father to Italy and would love any information on our family roots.When my Pop-pop came to America they changed the spelling of our name to Natalie on my Dad's birth certificate,but on my Pop-pop's IT IS NATALE.I look forward to hearing from anyone with any information .Thank you & God Bless

My mother and her family came from Roccaraso in the very early 1900's. Their family name was Giancola.Grandpa's first name was Faustino.
My father and his family camr from Naples. His name was Rusciano. My paternal grandfather's first name was Filippo.He also arrived in the early 1900's.
My mother, aunts uncles grandparents and sisters have all visited their respective villages. Even my oldest son has been there. My daughter and the Litergical Choir from St.Thomas College were in the Vatican for the Pope's Midnight Mass, 2000, to sing. She met a nun whose last name was Rusciano.The sister was in charge of the vestments for the Midnight Mass.
Me, mostly I have worked to support the family.I have read many of the notes and the discriptions of the great festival meals brings back many memories.
