What a great site! My family is from Villetta Barrea - a beautiful town that I had the good fortune to visit in 1981. My parents have also visited. Any information about the DiGiulio or Battista families would be much appreciated! My grandmother was Adalgisa Stella Maria Battista and my grandfather was Vincenzo Assunto DiGiulio. They lived in Pittsburgh (after coming over from Villetta Barrea at different times) and had six children. I hope to take my daughter to visit sometime soon!Denise DeJulio < wanderer0404

Thank you for this wonderful sight, I have received 4 e-mails
in response to my previous messages, but I now have a new
E-MAIL address: dansr I am still hoping to receive more e-mails from anyone familiar with the following surnames: DiPanfilo, Fiucci, Perilli, Pacitti, Dattilio, Donatelli, Chiola, DeLuzio, Onesti from Loreto Aprutino, Collecorvino, Penne and Pescara in Abruzzo.
I was fortunate enough to make a visit to all of that area and have met a few people named Fiucci and DiPanfilo and hope to hear from more. Again I will say that the trip to the Abruzzo was a very memorable trip and a beautiful province to visit.

Hello! I am beginning the long trek to our family's history. My grandmother, Dina ELISIO (ELISII) came to Ellis Island w/ her mother in 1920 from Abruzzi, province of Chieti. She was one of 7 born to Filippo Elisii and Balbina PINTO. My grandfather, Pasquale DIDESIDERO also came over from Abruzzi, province of Chieti, but arrived much earlier. He was one of 9 born to Justine DiDesidero and Antonia TETTAFERRANTE. If anyone can give me information on these families, I'd appreciate it. I will begin searching my husband's side, the COGLIAMESE family, soon too!

I am doing research for my granddaughter on our heritage. My grandparents were Sabatino and Natalina Cicolani. They left Scoppito in either 1906 or 1911 to come to the United States, where they settled in Ohio. I know that one of my father's sisters returned to Italy when she became emancipated. She never returned to the United States, as far as I know. My grandparents died before I was born, and my mom and dad are also deceased. It would be wonderful for us to locate our relatives in Italy. I'm trying to find the birth place of my Grandfather.I believe he was born in VASTOGIRARDI, IT or in some other town in the Abruzzo/Molise area. His name was Guillielmo Francesco D'Aloiso, but went by Frank William Daluiso in the U.S. He immigrated to Philadelphia with his mother in 1913 at the age of 2-3 and his birthdate was July 26, 1910. His mother went by the name of Maria and her maiden name was Belluzi or Pelluzi or something similar, and she was born in Italy on July 24th 1889. Dear Friends, You graciously located for me information on my paternal grandfather for the pur pose of my applying for Italian citizenship without losing that of USA.
I have two problems, maybe you can assist me in locating the right ear to twik or the proper underscore of a law that can help me out of this difficulty.
1. The US immigration dept is very slow in providing me with the proof they need here in Italy that he went to the USA. They ask me for proof he did not renounce his citizenship of iTaly prior to the birth of my father. But the problem is that he never did it so the document when it arrives will not address renouncing or not. There is no law in USA that when you automatically because of time residing in USA that you are required to renounce your former citizenship especially with countries in which there was an accord. And in fact, Mother Cabrini in the early 1900’s fought for the Italian immigrants to maintain their dual status. The law has been in effect as such and has not changed. In fact, my grandfather was immigrated in the early 1900’s. Is there anyother way that this can be handled to get to the point that the beaurocrats want??
2. They have told me that there are two types of application, one that you apply through the prefettura and the other through the citizenship office of the city you live in. The former thay say I must renounce my USA citizenship, the other they say is dual. Is that true? And if so, how can I get what I need without renouncing.
3. The citizenship office tells me if I take that route, the fact that my grandfather was PELLICCIOTTA in Italy and in USA became (we do not know how) known as PELLICCIOTTI and all family legal papers show this, that they will not in any case honor the documents because it can be false. Which is absurd because all the other information corresponds with dates, ancestors, parents, children, etc. Yet the prefutura route they tell me it is all self-certified and they will accept this as so. But I must renounce USA. Seems absurd.
Is there another way around all of this????
I thank you all so very much for your assistance in advance.
Respectfully,
Patricia Pellicciotti < pelly_pat

I am coming to Celano,Abruzzo in June 2003. I am trying to find living relatives in the Celano area. My grandfather, Rosario Liberatore, now deceased, left Celano in 1907 to emigrate to the US.His wife's name was Concetta.
Two daughters born about 1903, 1904 were named Santina and Katerina.
He returned to Italy and brought my grandmother and his 2 children to the US early in 1913. My father, Lorenzo, was born in Rochester, New York in 1913.
Can anyone tell me how to go about finding my living relatives in Abruzzo?
Thank you.

My grandfather Carlo Pezzopane emigrated to the USA from Onna in 1907 and was followed in 1908 by my grandmother, Marianna Graziani Pezzopane, my father Alessandro and his brother Carlo Jr. I would like to learn more about other Pezzopanes that emigrated from Onna in the early 1900s and any possible relatives I might have still living in that area.gary pezzopane < gpezz
