My family and I are planning to visit Abruzzo in October, to attend a wedding in Civitella Messer Raimondo. My grandparents emigrated from Castiglione Messer Marino (DiStefano, Sciartilli, Iacavone, and Liberatore families). We tried to visit Castiglione MM two years ago, but were unable, due to a snowstorm that made driving difficult on the narrow mountain roads. We hope to have better luck this time. I would appreciate hearing from any possibly related family in Castiglione, or from others who have visited there. Any suggestions, advice, etc, will be much appreciated. Grazie!

I would like to hear from anyone who has any memories of my father Dr David Ropschitz who spent several relatively happy months interned at Notaresco during WW2. He was interned because he was a stateless Jew. He was taken to Notaresco from the concentration camp at Ferramonti di Tarsia, near Cosenza, in Calabria. He was returned to the camp after his time at Notaresco. I am working on the manuscript which my father left recounting his times in Ferramonti and Notaresco. As he was a doctor my father treated people in the town and became friends with some of them. He especially mentions a cafe-owner whose daughter had tuberculosis.

I am looking for any information on my great grandmother and her family. My great grandmother was Louigia Gaviati, born May 12, 1881 in Casale Monferrato (Alexandria, Molise) to Pietro Gaviati and Giuseppina Bottacco. Giuseppina Bottacco was born 1845 in Casale Monferrato and died February 26, 1929. Besides Louigia the only other children I am aware of are Natalina Gaviati and Armando Gaviati. Armando married a Angiolina Gallina.
Louigia Gaviati married Taddeo Faiella from Prezza and immigrated to the USA in 1902, taking their youngest daughter Pia along.
Any information on the Gaviati's or Bottacco would be very helpful.

As, se separan y toman rumbos diferentes.

Hello, I'm glad about this website and I hope that I can get in contact with someone who eventually knows relatives of my grandparents. My grandfather's name was D'Angelo Eugenio and my grandmother's name was D'Armi Luisa. They both lived in Civitella Casanova/Pescara. About 1925 my grandfather lived in the USA, but I don't know exactly where in the USA. I know that a son of my grandfather's sister was in the U.S. Army and stationed in Heidelberg. I'm from Civitella Casanova, too, and live in Germany at the time and would be happy if someone could help me to find relatives in the USA or anywhere.
