Saturday, December 27, 2003 at 14:26:32 (CST)My mother's father and mother were from Castel di Lire, Abruzzo, their last name here in the USA was NOBILE, Antonio and Filomena. My mother is Edith Nobile Hunter, one of 11 children, Anton, Romolo, Frank, Louis, Dominic, Rose, Irene, Mary, Augustina, Alfonsia and my mother Edith and many aunts, uncles and cousins. I am sure there are still relatives here. My husband and I will be traveling to Italy, Rome and Assisi, next year and would like to plan a visit there too if possible.

Friday, December 26, 2003 at 14:25:09 (CST)From personal experiences and what I read on the Abruzzi message board, the question arises why our parents were reluctant to relate stories about their families they left behind. My cousins and my brothers and sisters were of the opinion that we were the only Placentras left in the world. This all came to pass when I started my genealogy quest.During the war (WW11)I had the privilege of visiting my father's home town (Macchia Valfortore)and no relatives emerged from the group of town's people who wined and dined me. In 1975 the same thing happen, so in March 2004 I'll try again. I know as a matter of fact that there no family animosity or feuds. What's your opinion?

Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 19:48:15 (CST)I am interested in all information on the D'Amato family from Nociano, Collina. My grandfather's brothers are Antonio and Giuseppe D'Amato. They had several children who almost all have moved to Australia. I wonder if there are any D'Amatos left in Nocciano? I also am of Scipione ancestry. My great grandmother was Amelia Scipione who married Orazio D'Amato in Nocciano in the late 1800's. I would love to correspond with others from Nocciano. Parlo e posso leggere abbastante bene l'italiano. E stato 20 anni fa che ho visitato nocciano.

Have no idea where he came from, but i got here through a website named casoli.
Maybe he did come from there and judjing by the amount of e-mails from America he got on the wrong boat and ended up in London.
If you have any info on 'Casoli's' in general that would be great. Thanks!

Monday, December 15, 2003 at 22:05:40 (CST)Hello,
I am looking for any relatives I may have in Abruzzo. My father came to the United States in the 20's. He passed away in 1983 at the age of 89. His mother's name was Agnes Galiardi (unsure of the spelling) and his father was John DeDominicis. He told me many stories of Italy and I hope to visit there some day.
A few of his brothers remained in Italy, others came to United States also. He spoke of a set of twin brothers. One brother was deaf. He had one sister named Lucy. If someone knows of this family and it's descendants, please be in touch.

Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at 16:01:30 (CST)Revisiting Abruzzo in January. I have been fortunate enough to have found living cousins (D'Andrea) in Casoli and Roccascelegna BUT we have trouble communicating. Question: anyone know of a young student in that area who I could hire as an interpreter for a day, and how do I get in touch with the priest of the local parish prior to my arrival so that I could possibly check some birth, death, christening records. Thanks!

Monday, December 08, 2003 at 17:23:55 (CST)Hello to all of the Abruzzese around the world,
I inadvertently stumbled across this website and became delighted at how many Abbruzzese are out there. Although I was born and bred in Adelaide (Australia), my father, Eliseo Pastorelli, came from Roio Piano and my mother, Anna Rosaria Scasrsella, from Genzano di Sassa. Both towns are in the province of L’Aquila.
I am very impressed with this web-site. It certainly made me reminisce about my cultural heritage.
Anyway, let’s continue to uphold the Abbruzze tradition and let the legacy live on!
Ciao for now.

Monday, December 01, 2003 at 01:19:57 (CST)I am looking for Baldassarre relatives. My grandfather, Ezio, came from Cesacastina, Teramo, Italy. His family immigrated to the United States in 1929. The family stayed in the Niagara Falls area. When in Cesacastina, the family operated the town bakery I believe. My great-grandparents are Francesco and Anita Baldassarre. My grandfather, Ezio, has siblings named Ennio, Nestore, Raffaello, and a sister Egla. If anybody has information about these individuals or their relatives or how to find out more about researching for them, please email me.
