This is a wonderful site! I am researching my family from Italy. They are the Matani's, sometimes spelled Metani or Metano is some of the records I've found. I noticed there are 5 Matani's listed in the local phone directory in Abruzzo. My Grandmother Clementine Matani travelled to the US with her Uncle Moses in 1920. I know she had a brother named Michael. I believe her mother's name was Anna. On the ship manifest she said she was from Casteliogni della valle which I see is now called Colledara. My mother was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1905. Two years later her parents returned the family to their town of Guardiaregia, Molise where she grew up. Am searching for any info re her birth. Any advice on obtaining geneaology info from Sao Paulo would be greatly appreciated.
