Avezzano - Nuptials in folk tradition / Il rito nuziale

In the Museo della Preistoria in Celano anthropologist Manuela Ciaccia will present her exhibition «Il rito nuziale nel tempo: 1900-2000», collected from four generations of Abruzzese women. Nuptials are reconstructed with photos, audio-visual techniques, jewels. Robert Pre, a New York photographer, made for the exhibition a black and white calendar with pictures of Abruzzese brides in traditional costume in the «ammasciata» (embassy) when the groom's family officially asks marriage, or the «rescite», (exit) when the bride goes out with two elderly ladies one week before the marriage.
