Teramo - The Lions award to Pietro Marziale / A Marziale onorificenza del Lions
The Malvin Jones Fellow for the year 2000 of the Lions international Clubs of Atri, Giulianova, Teramo and Val Vibrata goes to Pietro Marziale, professor at the Regina Elena Hospital in Rome for cancer research and therapy. In his native Campli he founded a gynecological cancer prevention center where diagnoses and therapy are given free of charge.

Orsogna - The only Abruzzese female commendatore / Ines Di Giovanni l'unico commendatore donna
Ines Di Giovanni, 82 years old, left Orsogna for Rome in her early youth. Since the 1940's she worked in the highest levels in the Finance Department, in 1973 she was awarded a gold medal from the Home Affairs department, in 1974 she was made a "cavaliere" of the Republic and in 1993 she received the title of "ufficiale" by President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro.
