26 May/maggio 2000 MESSAGGERO - L'Aquila - Book on mountain rescue / Libro sul soccorso alpino delle Fiamme Gialle The beautiful Gran Sasso can be deadly for its sudden storms. The book records the experience of the Soccorso Alpino della Guardia di Finanza, a group which for 25 years now has saved many lives on the mountain. The book is authored by ethnologist Vincenzo Battista - who personally witnessed the courage of the many voluntary rescuers - and documentary filmmaker Folco Quilici. 26 May/maggio 2000 MESSAGGERO - Chieti - A museum of popular life / Alla ricerca delle tradizioni popolari, by Agnese Pellegrini A CD and exhibition on a project about family life in the early 1900. Children and families took part in recreating four rooms - a kitchen, workshop, diningroom and bedroom - with other 500 objects, many of them no more in use, like the "prete" used to warm the bed. The museum at Villaggio Celdit is open on Mondays, 17 - 18, and Wednesdays, 12 - 13. 26 May/maggio 2000 IL CENTRO - - Pescara - a new web portal for the city / Nasce il portale di Pescara Maps, events, itineraries, links, last minute offers etc in and around Pescara online at http://www.azzonzo.it.
