Torquato Cardilli, a specialist in Eastern languages and political science, from 1969 to 1976 second secretary in Khartoum, first secretary in Damasco and Baghdad, then in 1979 counsellor in Tripoli, and so on in a prestigious career, until in 1998 he was appointed Secretary General of Italians abroad in Rome and now ambassador.

The oak, just discovered, is being granted the quality of national monument, just as another oak discovered in the territory of Roccacasale. WWF launched a month ago a campaign to discover and protect old trees.
