MESSAGGERO - , by Federica Farda
Andrea Bafile, hero and gold medal of WW1, buried in a shrine in the mountain near Guardiagrele, was mortally wounded in a battle on the river Piave. A link between l'Aquila and Guardiagrele, he died for the freedom of the Italian nation. His tomb was an idea of Gabriele D’Annunzio in 1923: a cave in the Maiella overlooking the sea, a symbol of all Abruzzese victims in the war.
