MESSAGGERO - L'Aquila - A royal seat, then monastery, finally a jail / Fu prima reggia, poi convento ed infine una galera
San Domenico, ordered about 1308 - 1309 by Charles of Anjou was first aroyal seat, then went to the Dominican Order, which was suppressed in 1809 and the building became a jail, to be abandoned in 1993. Latest project: make it a multi-function cultural facility.

Snow on Maiella, Gran Sasso and Velino Sirente. On Campo Imperatore, twofeet snow. And temperature is dropping : in L'Aquila 7 degrees centigrade.

"L’Abruzzo nel Settecento", edited by Umberto Russo and Edoardo Tiboni, presented yesterday at De Meis library, Pescara. 720 pages by thirty renowned scholars.

IL CENTRO - - Atri - Calendar with ancient fountains / Le fonti atriane in un calendario
Italia Nostra has prepared a calendar with 6 of the ancient 25 fountains. Introduction by historian Aristide Vecchioni and pictures by Giuseppe Tracanna. These are the fountains: Pila, Canala, Sant'Ilario, Fontecchio, Caprafico, Brecciola. Many other fountains are in very bad conditions.
