MESSAGGERO - Unbreakable Colatriano / Mimmo come Bruce Willis, by Lilli Mandara
Carmine Colatriano, called Mimmo, at 33 was the king of Italian casual jeans, with his "Cover" brand name, 110 employees, billions of revenues. On 7 december 1983 he was at Madrid airport, near to the plane door since he was always afraid of flying. His plane was hit by another on the airfield, he was able in a second to open the door and save, with himself, 40 more people, while all the other passengers died in the fire. Again, on 13 march 1987, he was on the highway near Bologna. He asked a friend to drive for him, and he fell asleep. He woke up in hospital after a coma, days later. All the others in the car had died. Now he does not care about his career any more. He spends most of his time with the children. He is happy to be a common man again.

IL CENTRO - - Fara Filiorum Petri - Getting ready for St. Anthony / Gara tra contrade per le farchie
The farchie are bundles of hay, 3 ft in diameter, up to 30 ft high, a special Abruzzese tradition for St. Anthony. Legend says the first were prepared in 1860 by Menic'Antonio della Selva, a farmer from Colli, to shed light on the route of the procession for the saint. Every year afterwards a competition started for the biggest farchie among the contrade (Campolungo, San Donato, Colli, Fara Centro, Giardino, Mandrone, Pagnotto, Piane, via Madonna del Ponte, Via San Nicola, Via Sant'Eufemia, Vicenne). Pagan rites and religious events mix together in this very special festival.
