Arischia - Remains of an ancient abbey found / Importante scoperta a S. Benedetto di Arischia, by Angela Baglioni
Thanks to endoscopy techniques underground chambers containing human bones and other things were discovered, then excavations started and remains of a possible Benedicine monastery of at least 1000 years ago were found under the church of San Benedetto di Arischia, built in 1370. Specialists are studying the findings, and history professors Alessandro Clementi and Marcello Vittorini suggest this might be the Abbazia di San Benedetto delle Cafasse, whose traces were lost for centuries.
