Castelli - King Ferdinand and ceramics / Re Ferdinando e le maioliche, by Giovanni D'Alessandro
Recently printed, a manuscript by Paolo de' Santi dated about 1834 speaks extensively of the beauty of the roof tiles of the church of San Donato asking the King of Naples special funds to stop the decadence of the place. The king was greatly interested in maintaing the celebrated art, though the golden age of Castelli was almost over. The roof of San Donato dates to 1615-17 when the ceramics center was at its highest point in fame and wealth.
