MESSAGGERO - New York - The saga of the Spera family / La storia della famiglia Spera, by Dom Serafini
Helen Johnson, fair-haired and with blue eyes, is actually 50% Abruzzese since she rediscovered her roots. Her mother was Giuliana Spera. Her grandfather Pierino, born in Avezzano, attended school in the Stated, then returned to Abruzzo in the Depression following 1929. Meanwhile his brother Benito stayed in the USA and served in the American army in WW2, then became a "ballroom" dancer. Another brother, Angelo Davide, was an actor in the silent movie. In America Giuliana married Victor Johnson and Helen visited Abruzzo in 1999 for the first time. She works as marketing manager for Aviva in San Francisco.

IL CENTRO - - Shangai - Prize to Carmine Di Marco / Carmine Di Marco premiato a Shangai
Accordion opera «Zero uno» by Carmine Di Marco was awarded the first prize for Music in the Modern Theater of Shanghai. His piece will be performed in International Fairs of Music in Frankfurt, Peterburg¶in 2002 alla Fiera Internazionale di strumenti musicali di Francoforte, a Pietroburgo, a Londra e verrà inserito nei programmi didattici per il conseguimento del diploma di fisarmonica nella versione di "Concerto per fisarmonica e orchestra" nei conservatori di musica italiani.

IL CENTRO - - Torre de' Passeri - Il mondo dantesco interpretato da Giotto / Dante interpreted by Giotto
The 22nd exhibition in the Casa di Dante, Castello Gizzi, is devoted to the rediscovery of the close connections between two of the greatest Italian figures, Giotto and Dante. On show also a reproduction of the Cappella degli Scrovegni. In his frescoes Giotto represented Dante, and the latter mentioned the painter's name in the Divine Comedy.
