In the province gossip is always interesting, and here's the latest: a young mother of two was working in town while her mother, husband and children were at the seaside. She leaves work and commutes to the holiday resort and there, while the children are having a rest, she finds mother and husband having an unmistakable meeting on her bed... Nobody knows what happened then.

Francavilla - the mythical beach loved by D’Annunzio and Michetti / Spiaggia del mito

D'Annunzio, photographed clothed in a white towel, made Francavilla beach famous. The cultural elite (D’Annunzio, Barbella, Michetti, Tosti, Serao, Scarfoglio, Primo Levi, Sartorio) met in the Convento Michetti, and in the liberty-style villas, when there where closed wooden cabins on the sea for the girls to bathe without being seen. They drank the healthy water at Fonte Letizia, and in 1921 the aristocracy of Southern Italy stayed at Grand Hotel Des Bains and Hotel Morfeo. In more recent times other VIP's spent their holidays here, such as Lina Wertumuller, Renzo Arbore, Sandra Milo, Michele Placido, Gabriella Ferri, General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa.

Visitors record this year. For 20 days the best Abruzzese craftswork on show: wrought iron, copper, carved stone, embroidery, textiles, and the competition for goldsmith artists. The Award after 19.30, then after 21 artisans will offer a sample of their working activity to the visitors.

From tonight the Festa dell'Emigrante and on Sunday the celebrations for Santa Maria Ottaviana, to say farewell to all those raianesi who have come to spend their holidays in the ancestral village. At 18 a Mass at the hermitage of San Venanzio and at 21 the "Serata folcloristica Raianese", with chorus "Francesco Paolo Tosti" from Francavilla and "Rajane cante". Tomorrow for St. Rocco the Pelagianello band. Other features: photo exhibition by Luciano Ceccarelli, bread sculptures by Daniela Zarlenga and Donnie Fabrizi.
