MESSAGGERO - SULMONA - Art Exhibition: more than 100 contestants / Rassegna d’arte: più di cento i partecipanti by Antonio Mancini
110 artists, 27 from abroad, for the XXVI Premio Sulmona, that will be opened this Saturday at 18 hours in the former Convento delle Clarisse di S. Chiara, where the National Pinacoteque is also hosted. A special section will be reserved to artist Alberto Sughi. Also awarded on the occasion the Sulmona Journalisn Prize.

The nuns stayed up late yesterday to see their Manila Nazzaro elected Miss Italia. The girl attends the Faculty of Medicine. The nuns say she's generous and always smiling. She's well known also on the campus: Danilo D’Ettorre, another student, says you couldn't help noticing her, even if she was wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Another student, Francesco Orlando, says she is intelligent and ambitious, and has high marks in all exams. Her principal: she's serious and hard-working. Also her boyfriend and father are proud of her. Her dream: become a cardiologist .

IL CENTRO - SILVI MARINA - A huge female dolphin found dead on the beach - Carried to low waters by the waves it got entangled in a net /Il mammifero è stato spinto dalle mareggiate e poi si è impigliato in una rete - Trovato a riva un grande delfino morto
A walker on the beach found her and alerted the authorities. 2,90 mt long, 300 kg, the dolphin was recovered and will undergo an autoptic examination in the hospital in Atri. Then she will be cremated, but there is no risk for bathers: the animal was healthy.

IL CENTRO - The "Chronicon" on line - Interesting research on the Abbey of San Bartolomeo / Il "Chronicon" in Internet - Interessante lavoro sull'abbazia di San Bartolomeo by Antonio Di Clemente
On Sunday 29 august in Carpineto della Nora prof. Enrico Fuselli from Orte (Viterbo) gave a lecture on Carpineto, tourism possibilities and the "Chronicon di San Bartolomeo", translated by Giovanni Della Valle. Prof. Fuselli has prepared a project to upload on the Internet comprising: how to reach Carpineto, the events, tourism facilities, traditions, photo albums, and the Chronicon, a goldmine of information for historians. Sponsors for the website are wanted.

IL CENTRO - Night orienteering competition in Massa d'Albe woods - Winner Gaetano Peluso / Gara di orientamento notturno nei boschi di Massa d'Albe - Nella competizione si è imposto Gaetano Peluso
XI edition won by Gaetano Peluso (athletes) and Amina and Gaia Settevendemmie (group). The competitors had to find 8 lanterns using only a map, compass and torch. This Sunday a daylight competition. Orientering was born in Scandinavia, where it is very popular. The orienteering society in Massa d'Albe is the first of its kind. It is a total sport, practiced in nature by whole families.
