On Christmas night at Bethlehem the peace monument from Sulmona / A Betlemme,

Yesterday pope John Paul II blessed the monument called "2000
& beyond" that will be placed in Bethlehem, Palestine, in the presence of Yasser Arafat and Massimo D'Alema. The artist is Franco Iezzi who explains the monument, six metres high, four metres long: the third millennium is represented in the three rings, representing Christians, Hebrews and Muslims who might find the way to peace through a common God.

First international festival of youth poetry / Primo festival internazionale di poesia giovanile
In Colledimacine, Lama dei Peligni and Pizzoferrato on 30-31 October 38 young poets will take part in the «La contea dei ginepri» contest of international youth poetry in memory of Clemente Di Leo, a poet from Colledimacine who died in 1970 at 24 years of age.
