Only two babies born in four years, while ten deaths were recorded in 1999. Of the 300 inhabitants 120 are elderly. But the mayor is not pessimistic: a lot of tourists are buying houses and establishing residence. The birth rate decrease has hit heavily all the centres in the National Park, with the only exceptions of Pescasseroli, Castel di Sangro and Pescocostanzo.

Snow is back, in L'Aquila last night 5 degrees, and a record of second coldest town in Italy. First snow also on the ski-slopes at Campo Imperatore. Rain, snow and fog all over, from Castel del Monte to the Velino plateau to the Campotosto lake.
