The Panforte is one of the symbols of Siena in the world.
There are a lot of legends about its origin. One tells that it was made by St. Joseph.
The present recipe was invented in the last century adding candied orange, lemon and citron peel to the original ingredients, basically "marzipan", vanilla, sugar, almonds, nutmeg.
Panforte Margherita (Classic recipe)
This typical sweetmeat from Siena is still prepared according to the old, original recipe with candied fruits and almonds and an exclusive mixture of spices.
Ingredients: Candied orange peels, citron and melon 39%, wheat flour, sugar, almonds (15%), glucose-fructose syrup, starch wafer, spices, nuts.

Soft Panforte
A different variety of the classic Panforte Margherita: the Soft recipe which gives the product a more delicate taste.
Ingredients: Apricot almonds, almonds (14%), sugar, candied orange peels and citron, hazelnuts, wheat flour, glucose-fructose syrup, maltodextrin, starch wafer, spices, nuts.

Panforte senza Canditi
A different variety of the classic Panforte Margherita: the exclusive recipe with no candied fruit, but full of precious ingredients such as almonds and sultanas for the most demanding consumers.
Ingredients: Wheat flour, sugar, glucose-fructose syrup, raisins (7%), water, hazelnuts, almonds (5%), puffed rice, piestachio nuts (4%), maltodextrin, foodfibre, starch wafer, spices, caramel, nuts.
